Become a NAMA approved professional Āyurvedic Health Counselor or simply enjoy exploring the longest surviving holistic system of healthcare for yourself, family, friends and your community!

Immerse yourself in the ancient wisdom and foundational principles, history, and philosophy of Āyurvedic medicine. Learn individual body-mind constitutional assessment, food and nutrition as medicine, lifestyle management, herbal wisdom, yoga practices, introductory counseling skills, and engage in clinical internship and externships in preparation for a professional career as an Āyurvedic Health Counselor.

Goals & Aims

The Āyurvedic Health Counselor’s scope of practice encompasses a focus on preventive health care and health promotion utilizing the experience and knowledge of appropriate diet and lifestyle practices and recommendations for the unique individuals in a clinical practice. Graduates may become professional members of the National Āyurvedic Medicine Association (NAMA), start a clinical practice independently, join the staffs of yoga studios or spas, work in health resorts, and join integrative healthcare practices as diet and lifestyle counselors.

Program Highlights

AHC is a 9 month accelerated program designed to fit the busy schedule of professionals and others from all walks of life. Students attend six 4-day weekends (1 per month) at the beautiful 375 acre redwood campus of Mount Madonna Center in the Santa Cruz mountains, and participate in 3 additional "live-streaming" sessions (each month) and complete their program with 3 additional months of supervised clinical observations and practicums. Weekends start on Thursday 9:30am and end Sunday 5pm.

On-site coursework completes July 12, 2020.

Each of the six 4-day weekends includes two courses, plus yoga, practicum and integration curriculum. Between monthly sessions, there are three 2-hour on-line (live-streaming) sessions required.

Following the coursework, there are 3 additional months of clinical observation, discussion, internship and externship requirements.
