Ayurvedic Practitioner Professional Training

If you have a BA or BS, you can earn a Masters of Arts in Ayurveda while studying to be an Ayurvedic Practitioner

Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP)**

**If you have a BA or BS degree, you may apply instead for the Master of Arts in Ayurveda and earn an Ayurvedic Practitioner’s certificate concurrently.

900 Hours of Academic Excellence and Clinical Practicum

AP Pre-Requisites:

  • Successful completion of the Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) program required. If the student completed their AHC elsewhere, they must successfully pass the AAC Board Exam or the MMI Final Exam at the AHC level.
  • 6 College Credits of Anatomy and Physiology (2 additional credits above the AHC level)

Recognized by the Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission (AAC), MMI’s Ayurvedic Practitioner Program significantly builds on the foundational Ayurvedic Health Counselor Program.

The AP is an exploration into classical texts, traditional clinical treatments, practices, and formulations, guiding the student to a deeper understanding of the 5,000 year old art and science of Ayurvedic medicine and philosophy.

Experience a full and rich immersion into the “science of life,” with extensive training, clinical experience, and a scope of practice well beyond what is first studied in the Ayurvedic Health Counselor Program.

Students enjoy a rich and stimulating educational environment while receiving in-depth academic instruction in disease management, herbal medicine, mother and child care, geriatric health, rejuvenative therapies, subtle healing modalities and counseling skills and an introduction to research. Yoga and Sanskrit study are integral aspects of the curriculum.

Goals & Aims

AP graduates continue to focus on preventive healthcare and health promotion through diet and lifestyle management with their clients, however the AP scope of practice is expanded well beyond that of the Ayurvedic Health Counselor to include pathophysiology, disease management and advanced herbology. Graduates will have had extensive supervised clinical practice during the program, giving them the confidence and capacity to fully engage in an independent or joint clinical healthcare practice.

Graduates will qualify for the AAC board certification exam. Upon passage qualify for professional membership in AAC as Ayurvedic Practitioners.

California residents may work independently as Ayurvedic Practitioners under the California Health Freedom Act or join the staff of medical clinics or hospitals offering complementary modalities.
