Mount Madonna Institute is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission

Effective November 3, 2019

Mount Madonna Institute (MMI) is excited to announce the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) has granted Initial Accreditation to MMI, following a rigorous process of review, including on-site visits, extensive self-studies to address all standards and ‘criteria for review’ required for institutional accreditation.

This academic recognition of excellence helps ensure future growth, legitimacy and a respected voice for Ayurveda and Yoga within the expanding national Integrative Health Science professions.

The Commission commended Mount Madonna Institute in particular for:

  1. Making meaningful progress toward developing robust processes and institutional structures while protecting and maintaining the spiritual context and foundation of all of the institution’s goals and those of the larger community.
  2. Employing faculty and administrators who exhibit deep and devoted mentorship of students and who are committed to student learning.
  3. Using assessment and program review to enhance academic rigor, allowing the institution to have an impact in the field through the strength of its graduates.
  4. Developing a realistic, achievable strategic plan with key performance indicators that lays the foundation for sustainable growth.
  5. Fostering effective institutional governance by creating a highly-qualified board of directors with diverse areas of expertise who are dedicated to selfless service and committed to the principles of wellness and positive transformation.

Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission (AAC)

MMI's Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Ayurvedic Practitioner, and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy programs are recognized by the Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission (AAC). The Ayurvedic Health Counselor and Ayurvedic Practitioner have also been awarded Candidate for Accreditation status. The AAC is a programmatic accrediting agency for clinically focused Ayurvedic medical programs. AAC recognition status indicates that the program administers an approved course of study.

Mount Madonna's Yoga Teacher Training has been approved by the national yoga registry, Yoga Alliance, since 2002.

International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT)

Mount Madonna Institute has been affiliated with the International Association of Yoga Therapists since 2010. IAYT supports research and education in yoga and serves as a professional organization for yoga teachers and yoga therapists worldwide. Their mission is to establish yoga as a recognized and respected therapy.
