Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) Program

The MMI Ayurvedic Health Counselor Program is a twelve-month program consisting of successful completion of the Ayurveda Educator curriculum followed by 200 hours of in-person Practicum. In the six months of the AE modules students experience interactive lectures, yoga (asana, pranayama & meditation) classes, clinical observations, and integration sessions. During the remaining six months, Ayurvedic Health Counselor students continue their studies with two 10-day in-person practicums where they will apply theory to practice through a variety of hands-on learning experiences in Ayurvedic Diagnosis, Nutrition, Herbology, Lifestyle Practices, Yoga, Chanting/Sanskrit, Ayurvedic Therapies, Jyotish, Professional Practices, Case Study and Client Interactions. Additionally, students meet monthly for Integration sessions and complete their Clinical hours with ongoing online supervision.

The curriculum is the foundation for further studies, including Ayurvedic Practitioner, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy or a Masters Degree in Ayurveda.

Outcome of the Program

Ayurvedic Health Counselors motivate, educate, and support clients to be successful in implementing Ayurvedic practices into their lives.

Graduates of the AHC program have gone on to:

  • start a clinical practice
  • join integrative healthcare practices as diet and lifestyle counselors
  • work as a personal chef
  • offer Ayurvedic bodywork in their massage practice
  • integrate Ayurveda into their yoga instruction
  • corporate coaching
  • develop products
  • write books on Ayurveda

Program Highlights

This 600 hour program combines in-person and online learning coursework to prepare students for a professional career as an Ayurvedic Health Counselor. Total program length is 12 months.

AHC Pre-requisite:

  • 4 college level credits of Anatomy and Physiology

Classes are held in the following format:

  • Each extended weekend module is offered online from Thursday 5:00 pm PT through Sunday 5:30 pm PT with Friday and Saturday evenings off. Modules include yoga and coursework.
  • Classes also meet weekly online on Tuesday nights from 5:00-7:00 pm.
  • Sanskrit meets monthly on Thursday night from 5:00-7:00 pm PT.
  • In person practicums and clinical internships are scheduled over two 10-day sessions in July and September 2024.
