Program Formats
Master of Arts in Ayurveda (earning an Ayurvedic Practitioner concurrently) ** NAMA Recognized Format
- 20 month program (including Clinical)
- 15 modules offered HYBRID
- Choose a REMOTE OPTION for as many as 3 modules.
- Required IN-PERSON for 12 modules (including the 3 Clinical Internship modules of Dec 2022, April & August 2023).
**The NAMA Recognized Format is required to take the NAMA AP Board Exam and to continue into an Ayurvedic Doctor (AD) Program.
Master of Arts in Ayurveda (earning an Ayurvedic Practitioner concurrently) Non-NAMA Recognized Format
- 20 month program (including Clinical)
- 15 modules offered HYBRID
- Choose any combination of REMOTE or IN-PERSON for 12 modules.
- Required IN-PERSON for the 3 Clinical Internship modules of Dec 2022, April & August 2023
Master of Arts - Ayurveda
MA-Ayurveda Pre-Requisites:
- BA/BS from an accredited institution
- 6 College credits of Anatomy & Physiology
- Successful completion of the Ayurvedic Health Counselor program required.
- If the student completed their AHC elsewhere, they must successfully pass the NAMA Board Exam or the MMI Final Exam at the AHC level.
- If the student is currently enrolled in the AHC program at Mount Madonna Institute and in good standing academically, they may continue into the MA program.
Earn a NAMA recognized Ayurvedic Practitioner certificate as you complete a Master of Arts in Ayurveda from our regionally accredited institution.
The Mount Madonna Institute Master of Arts degree in Ayurveda is a graduate level professional training that confers mastery and excellence in the field of holistic wellness and integrative health care.
The MA program consists of graduate level courses in advanced Ayurvedic medicine and classical texts, interprofessional education, supervised clinical practicum, an apprenticeship and research literacy. This program is directed toward students who have completed the AHC program and want a credential from an accredited university.

Students learn to adapt Ayurveda for an integrative approach to healthcare. Graduates function effectively within healthcare subsystems to deliver excellent team-based, client-centered care and education for individuals, families, and the community. Graduates may also pursue research and academic opportunities.

MMI MA graduates are on the forefront of the development and promotion of Ayurveda, the fastest re-emerging modality of healthcare in the world and a solid partner in the expanding field of Integrative Medicine. Whether it is through teaching, writing articles, contributing to new or on-going research, presenting at professional conferences, or maintaining a respected clinical practice, our graduates are the next generation of Ayurveda in the U.S.A.
Program Highlights
This program, designed to allow the student to enjoy Mount Madonna’s 380 acre mountaintop campus, is also offered in a remote option. Students meet (in-person or online) one weekend a month. There are additional complementary (synchronous) online classes offered throughout the month. Students are taught by a variety of teachers and enjoy a variety of perspectives. The program is steeped in the classical texts of Ayurveda.
Classes are delivered in the following format:

- Theory Courses
- Integration
- Monday nights 5:00 - 8:00 pm (online) 3 hours, 3 times a month, for course complements & integration.
- Friday mornings 9:00 -11:00 am (online) 2 hours twice per month (Sanskrit).
