Workshop Description

Refine your art of observation and explore the intention behind the principle asana in this three day intensive.  Look for ways to maximize the benefits of each pose through verbal cues and physical adjustments.  Survey both gross physical alignment and subtle energetic purpose to arrive at the classical goal of stirum sukham asanam: strength and ease in the posture.

The class will be experiential and highly participatory.  Students will be adjusted and have the opportunity to adjust other students. The workshop is designed both for yoga teachers and practitioners.  A general knowledge of bones and muscles will enhance understanding of the structural foundation.

Kamalesh Ginger Hooven (Ayurveda Practitioner & Yoga Therapist) began sharing her understanding of yoga and practice over 17 years ago in Guatemala.  Her studies with Baba Hari Dass began in 2002 where, as her practice deepened, Babaji recommended the study of Ayurveda.  Her ongoing study of Anatomy and Physiology informs her teaching, especially in the area of adjustments.  Kamalesh is the current Dean of the School of Yoga for Mount Madonna Institute where she continues to teach in the Yoga Teacher Trainings (200, 300 Levels) and in the College of Ayurveda.  She is on the Board of Directors of MMI.
