AY 403 Herbology 2 - Ayurvedic Practitioner & Master’s of Ayurveda
Join us as we dive in and explore the Ayurvedic principles of Herbology and Pharmaceuticals. Participants will discover the medicinal effects of single herbs and compounded formulas from the NAMA required herb list as we research the 50 ganas from the classic texts and classify herbs by rasa, virya, vipaka, prabhava, gunas, and karma. Vaidya Jay will explain guidelines for dosages and the major effects of taking herb at a specific times of day. We will also discuss the principals of a good Ayurvedic herbal formula and herbs to balance each dhatu and their effects the doshas.





About the Instructor
Vaidya Jayagopal S. Parla is the founder of Founder & Director, Athreya Ayurvedic Integrative Health Center. He currently serves as a faculty member for the American University of Complementary Medicine and Southern California University of Health Sciences. Viadya Jay has expertise in Pancha Karma procedure in various health disparities. He specializes in the management of arthritis, asthma, low back pain syndrome, allergic disorders, GIT disorders, infertility and Immunity disorders. He has Clinical Research experience in the pharmacognostic studies of medicinal plants including the anti inflammatory activity of Aegle marmelos (Rutaceae), wound healing properties of Aristalochia indica, effect of Centella asiatica and Nardostychos jatamamsi in Insomnia, efficacy of oil prepared of Curcuma longa, and anti diabetic properties of G. Sylvestre.
