Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy Program Details
Prerequisites:
- YTT 200 certification from a Yoga Alliance approved school*
(*Non-MMI YTT 200 grads must complete the Yoga and Ayurveda Essentials workshop)
- 1 year teaching yoga
- 2 years personal yoga practice
Co-requisite:
4 credits Anatomy & Physiology (required for the AHC program)
The AYT program consists of 1083.5 hours and these separate components:
- The Ayurvedic Health Counselor Program for 637 hours
- The Advanced Yoga Studies (YTT 300) Program for 300 hours
- The AYT Integration - 231 contact hours are delivered over two trimesters (8 months). The curriculum offers an interface of Ayurvedic anatomy, physiology, physics and pathophysiology into the Western model of disease and treatment. The student has up to 4 trimesters (16 months) to complete the clinical practicum (425 total AYT Integration hours)
*NOTE: A student must satisfactorily complete both the Ayurvedic Health Counselor program (AHC), the Advanced Yoga Studies (YTT 300) before entering the AYT Integration.
Students may complete the AHC or the Advanced Yoga Studies (YTT 300) in any order or even during the same calendar year. Students may complete up to 30% of the program from another institution if all requirements are met. (See Transfer Policy).
Mount Madonna Institute's Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy program is approved by the International Association of Yoga Therapists' (IAYT). Mount Madonna Institute supports the National Ayurvedic Medical Association’s (NAMA) Educational Standards for Ayurveda Yoga Therapists and is applying for NAMAC accreditation.
