Yoga Teacher Training 300
Dive Deeper Into the Philosophical Traditions of Yoga
Integrative Approach to Learning
Mount Madonna Institute offers an integrative approach to mastering the vast science of yoga by combining study, practice, and self-reflection. Our YTT 300 hour training embodies the teachings imparted by Baba Hari Dass to the Hanumān Fellowship and Mount Madonna Center community since 1971. With Aṣhṭānga Yoga as the foundation, we dive deeper into the philosophical
traditions of yoga, including Raja Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Mantra Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Tantra Yoga, Vedic ritual and Karma Yoga. Foundational texts and references for these studies include Patañjali's Yoga Sutras, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the Gheranda Samhita, the Bhagavad Gīta, the Samkhya Karika, the Upanishads, the Vedas, and the writings of Baba Hari Dass.
It is our firm belief that developing a regular personal practice is the foundation for realizing the truth of yoga, which is union with infinite consciousness, union with inner peace, or union with God. Yoga is a commitment to practice, to the process of inner awakening, and ultimately to the realization of one’s true nature.
By removing obstacles yoga brings greater energy and clarity, and unleashes creative potential inherent in every human being. The courage and insights gained through the practice of yoga give the aspirant the ability to consciously face the challenges of life with peace and equanimity.
Over three 8-day weeks over the course of a year, you will fully explore Ashtanga Yoga. After reviewing the basics, you will build a scaffold with the Yoga Sutras, Samkhya, Subtle Body theory, Ayurveda, Sanskrit and Mantra, Tantra, Ritual and Bhakti Yoga and Yoga Psychology.
This course is designed to encourage your personal practice as well as your skills in teaching by:
- Increasing your exposure to the philosophies and methods of yoga
- Strengthening your personal practice through deeper understanding and reflection
- Offering opportunities to teach in a supportive environment – both theory and practices (asana pranayama, and meditation)
- Creating a learning community of peers to study, inquire and explore
This program is registered with the Yoga Alliance and provides 300 hours of study which layer upon your prior YTT 200 certification. Of the 300 hours, 250 hours are programmed over one year in three weeklong sessions. The remaining 50 hours of electives are to be completed at Mount Madonna through one retreat and an approved workshop. (Mount Madonna offers four retreats annually.) In certain cases an independent study project can be arranged with the program coordinator.
When you satisfactorily meet the hourly requirements, you will receive a certificate of completion at the 300 hour level.
The 250 hours are divided into three 8-day weeks, required.
- The balance of 50 hours is available at Mount Madonna Center through approved workshops and retreats and/or independent study projects arranged with the program coordinator at a separate cost. You must discuss your electives with the YTT 300 Yoga Program Director in advance.
