Statement
Mount Madonna Institute is a non-profit educational institution providing
high quality, professional instruction and training in the fields of
Yoga, Ayurveda, (complementary and alternative medicine--CAM), Massage, and
Community Studies. These courses will integrate theoretical and
practical education and training. Each of the schools will include
in its curriculum an emphasis on continuing, life-long learning as well
as on bringing a high level of professionalism to these careers. The
Institute will offer degrees, certificates, and diplomas.
Educational Philosophy & Goals
The goal of Mount Madonna Institute is to teach Yoga, Ayurveda, Massage
and Community Studies and train highly qualified practitioners. In l998
the Journal of American Medical Association reported that 42% of Americans
used complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in 1997, spending an
estimated $21.2 billion. Today even more people are turning
to CAM modalities increasing the need for training and educating practitioners
in these fields. Partly in response to this need for qualified educators
and practitioners, Mount Madonna Institute has been established.
For 28 years Mount Madonna Center, host of The Mount Madonna
Institute, has been known for the excellence of its Ayurveda, Yoga, and
other programs. The Institute will offer its graduates certificates,
diplomas and Masters Degrees.

California State Approval
Mount Madonna Institute
has received temporary approval to operate from the Bureau for Private
Postsecondary and Vocational Education. Temporary approval is an interim
designation the Bureau can authorize pending a qualitative review and
assessment of the Institute. At the time it is issued, the Bureau has
not yet conducted a site visit. It is issued if the Bureau determines
the Institute’s
operational plan satisfies the minimum standards listed in the Education Code
(CEC) Section 94900 or 94915, whichever is applicable. The temporary approval
will remain in effect for at least 90 days, but not more than 360 days, in
order to enable the Bureau to conduct the site visit and inspection of the
Institute. After that visit, the Bureau will then determine whether the Institute
should be approved on a permanent basis.
