Massage Practitioner Certification Training
March-June, 2010

Starting Sept. 1, California requires 250 hours of training for being a Certified Massage Practitioner, a title then recognized statewide. Qualifying for that title continues to be voluntary, and it is possible to practice as a massage practitioner with fewer hours in those areas where lower local requirements exist, but practicing as a Certified Massage Practitioner requires the 250 hours of training.

We are pleased to present a high quality program providing 250 hours in 3 months time, mostly on 3-day weekends: 100 hours March 9-21, 2010, and 25 hours each 3-day weekend March 26-28, April 9-11, May 14-16, May 21-23, June 11-13, and June 18-20. For those wanting only 100 hours of training, to practice locally without being a Certified Massage Practitioner, the March 9-21 segment may be taken without the subsequent weekends.

Integrated Meridian Massage

25 Hours

This innovative and effective system is a synthesis of Eastern and Western bodywork styles. The long fluid nurturing strokes of oil massage are combined with deeper compressions along the meridian pathwaysto facilitate both profound relaxation and increased vitality. There will be an introduction to the Chinese energetic map, and participants will learn Shiatsu sequences practiced before oil is applied. Specific acupressure points will be demonstratedfor release of tension on major problem areas such as shoulders, neck and lower back. Yin (nurturing and receptive) and Yang (active and deep) qualities of touch will be explored. Chi Kung exercises will assist in opening participant's awareness,so they can sense the subtle movement of energy in themselves and in those they massage.

Jim Gallas C.M.T. has been practicing various forms of bodywork for over 20 years and has been teaching massage for 15 years. He is the creator of the instructional DVD "Zen Thai Shiatsu - Deep Effective Bodywork with Ease." Jim also teaches Yoga, Chi Kung and anatomy,in workshops in Northern California and Internationally.
