Mission Statement
Mount Madonna Institute is a private non-profit educational institution approved to operate by the State of California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. The Institute provides high quality, professional instruction and training in the fields of Yoga, Ayurveda, (complementary and alternative medicine--CAM), Massage, and Community Studies. These programs integrate theoretical and practical education and training. Each of the colleges includes in its curriculum an emphasis on continuing, life-long learning as well as on bringing a high level of professionalism to these careers. The Institute offers degrees, certificates, and diplomas.
Educational Philosophy & Goals
The goal of Mount Madonna Institute is to teach Yoga, Ayurveda, Massage and Community Studies and train highly qualified practitioners. In 1998 the Journal of American Medical Association reported that 42% of Americans used complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in 1997, spending an estimated $21.2 billion. According to a study by the NIH reported in January, 2011, in 2007 CAM spending rose to $33.9 billion and is continuing to climb today as even more people are turning to CAM modalities, increasing the need for training and educating practitioners in these fields. Partly in response to this need for qualified educators and practitioners, Mount Madonna Institute has been established.
Since 1978, Mount Madonna Center, host of The Mount Madonna Institute, has been known for the excellence of its Ayurveda, Yoga, and other programs. The Institute offers its graduates certificates, diplomas, and Master of Arts degrees.
